Samosa
No matter in which part of India you are, it is impossible not to find Samosa at a normal snacks vendor. It is one of the most famous snacks of entire India and all of the people love it with a cup of tea irrespective of their race or origin. It is prepared by making a filling of potatoes combined with peas sometimes and then filling the same in dough in a triangle shape and deep frying the same in a pan. Main ingredients of the dish include potato, refined flour, salt, oil, water, chillies and some spices.
Kachori
This is one of the most famous breakfast recipes of entire nation. People like to have this with some spiced and boiled potato curry in the morning time. In some parts of the nation it is known by the name of Khasta Kachori. The dish is prepared by stuffing urad dal and spices in puris and frying them till they are golden brown and extremely crisp. Main ingredients of the dish include refined flour, split black gram, salt, oil, ginger, green chillies, cashewnuts, raisins, ghee (butter), lemon juice and spices.
Handvo
A pure Gujarati snack, Handvo is one of the most renowned regional dish of the state and very popular in Kalol. It is prepared by making a batter of various lentils and vegetables and tempering the same with some spices and finally cooking them together in a pan with the lid on. To make the batter one needs chana dal flour, urad dal flour, rice, curd and water. Vegetables required for adding into the batter include potato, bottle guard, peas, onion, garlic, green chilli, and ginger while, ingredients used in tempering include mustard seeds, curry leaves, sesame seeds, dry red chilli and asafetida.
Dahi Vada
It is one of the most famous chaat of not only Kalol, but Gujarat as well. It is prepared with moong daal and is served with curd and tamarind condiment called saunth. Moong dal pakodas are pepared by soaking and grinding moong dal and later deep frying the same in oil and finally these pakodas are served with curd, salt, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and tamarind condiment.
Khakra
Another tea time snack of Gujarat, Khakra is quiet popular and easily available in Kalol. It is a crispy and crunchy flat bread usually served with a dip or to be eaten as a chaat or chips. A lot of people enjoy it with the tea as well. Main ingredients of the dish include whole wheat flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, fenugreek leaves, carom seeds, salt and oil.
Khichu
Khichu is another specialty of not only Kalol, but entire Gujarat state of India. Main ingredients of the dish include rice flour, cumin seeds, chopped green chillies, soda-bi-carb, salt, oil, chopped garlic, chilli powder and coriander leaves.
Puffed Rice Chaat
Puffed rice chaat is prepared by combining some other ingredients to the puffed rice. As this chaat is not deep fried like the other chaats of our country, it is very light and healthy snack. Other ingredients of this snack include onion, tomato, salt, green chillies, red chillies, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, green mango, garam masala, lemon, coriander, oil, turmeric powder and cumin powder.
